For my most recent college project the theme was "Spaces". I racked my brains for ages trying to think what to do; I physically cannot create work that doesn't mean anything and I found it hard to find something I cared about that related. Eventually, I started researching and looked into shop windows, visual merchandising, the idea of whether any space is actually our own... And I combined it all.
I must admit, it is no where near the standard of ACTUAL visual merchandising, I know, but I tried something I had never done before! I painted my garage - which is made out of cement blocks - pure white, and that took me a week in itself. You could say my aim was to create a "shop window-esque" set-up of my own personal space. Something that screams 'RUBY' through composition, lighting and props. Every prop, and position of the prop, had a meaning. For instance: Vogue is central in my fairy light whirl of creativity to show my tunnel vision towards my goal; family photographs are scattered throughout showing the influence and support I have gained through family and memories with them; the books and shoe on top resemble how only with more research and knowledge have I began to appreciate fashion for what it truly is and also to show how materialistic I am... And the chair symbolises something my tutor talks about a lot - placing the viewer in the image. I wanted to place the viewer underneath my whirl of creativity to show two things: 1. that everyone and anyone can influence my creativity and 2. that creativity is not exclusive, everyone has a form of creativity...
Tell me your thoughts.

P.S I am sorry for the thinning out of posting recently, everything is hectic this week and next week so it will be a bit slow! Sorry!
P.P.S At some point (hopefully tomorrow), a wonderful post about a private view at Saatchi I attended with my great friend Beth on Wednesday will come up, so watch out.
Love the colours and that this is something so very different and beautiful to view xx
