The Diversity Coalition

An inspirational organisation, The Diversity Coalition, has been set up by three of our most coveted multi-cultural models in history: Naomi Campbell, Bethann Hardison and Iman. The Diversity Coalition was responsible for sending out letters this September to every governing body of each fashion capital, warning them about not using enough multi-cultural models on the catwalk. Campbell said she has "seen a huge change this season already" naming Giorgio Armani and Jil Sander as two houses that have improved drastically for using only a few multi-cultural models in this season's shows. She continued to say "We hope they will keep doing it and we're going to keep raising our voices until they do".

However, the organisation raises questions, why is it only three black models involved? Where is the models of asian or caucasian descent backing this wonderful cause? With new faces such as Malaika Firth - who was snapped up immediately by Prada for their campaign although it was the first black model they used for the face of a campaign since Campbell - there is plenty of potential for the fashion industry to embrace a vast diversity in the models they use on the catwalk.

I crave for the day when racism will no longer be an issue not only in the fashion industry, but throughout the world. I'm backing The Diversity Coalition.
