Fashioning the Unfashionable - Alexander Wang Pre Fall 2014

Deterioration is something that can never be said to be "fashionable", despite the fact many fashions have said it so. Fashion as an industry is one of impeccability, elegance and attention to detail. However, Alexander Wang, creative director of Balenciaga and his own eponymous label, has made deterioration the inspiration for his label's Pre Fall 2014 show.

Wang's work is always beautiful, his work being a beauty that resonates with working women and teenage girls alike. This season we not only see the theme of deterioration but also a large influence from menswear: buttoned-down suit jackets and perfectly crisp straight leg jackets. His take on the popular thigh high boots is one that reminds me of the recent Chanel show in Dallas; slightly Western American but also seemingly futuristic.

When the world is at the height of high-technology and quality, why is deterioration such a large subject for Wang this season?  "Perhaps all the deterioration was Wang's way of suggesting that our global Masters of the Universe are coming apart at the seams" says style.com

All I know is I want to see more.
